Community at the Heart of the Mill
Leigh Spinners Mill is more than a place to work and visit. It’s where people come together to learn, create, collaborate and connect.
The mill is home to community organisations, volunteer led projects, local groups and shared spaces. Together, they play an important role in the life of Leigh.
As a community asset, Leigh Spinners Mill creates opportunities for individuals, groups and organisations to meet, share ideas and take part in activities that strengthen the wider community.
Community Spaces
Flexible spaces throughout the mill provide a welcoming setting for community activities, meetings, workshops, exhibitions and events all year round.
Horrocks Gallery
Originally created as a gallery, the Horrocks Gallery now hosts a wide variety of community events, exhibitions, meetings and creative activities.
Its flexible layout makes it ideal for everything from exhibitions and workshops to talks, networking events and community gatherings, bringing people together in the heart of the mill.
Community Room
The Community Room is a welcoming place for local groups, organisations and activities.
Throughout the year, it hosts meetings, community events and local initiatives. Churches, networking organisations and youth groups are just some of the many groups that use the space.
Project Space
The Project Space provides a practical environment for workshops, classes and group activities.
Large tables, chairs and a sink make the space ideal for creative, educational and hands on activities.
Volunteers Make It Possible
They support the Heritage Centre, help preserve the mill’s history and play a key role in events, projects and community activities throughout the year.
Their time, skills and enthusiasm help the mill thrive and ensure it continues to benefit businesses, visitors and the wider community.
If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, we’d love to hear from you.
